Post 1: Why I Read

I read for pleasure.  Reading allows me to pass time while I’m waiting or gives me something to do when I have nothing.  It also allows me to get lost in someone else for a while and to really journey through their life.
My whole family likes to read, so it gives us something to discuss at dinner or in the car on long trips and really bond.
I agree that reading can be good for the mind because reading allows us to escape the day-to-day routines and really go on an adventure with the characters while never actually leaving.  Reading sometimes evokes emotion and that helps us connect with characters.
Reading really allows us to access something that you can’t get in the real world.  I really enjoy dystopian society books (Divergent,  The Selection, The Giver, The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, etc.) and the details that the authors put in such books makes it like a tv in your head, it’s like you’re there, in that world and it truly is something you can’t get in the real world.

I sometimes read for educational purposes like in history class or science class and we’re reading out of a book.  That’s very important because those books offer knowledge and allow us to learn but I mostly read because I can; I read signs, billboards, text messages, notes on the board, all because I can.
